Welcome to the Louisiana SPCA

As 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of animal suffering, we are the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state providing care for 20,000+ homeless and companion animals annually. For more than 125 years, we have been committed to serving the needs of the people and animals in our community and across the region as a 4-Star Charity Navigator rated nonprofit ranking in the top 1% nationally.


Hours of Operation:

  • Adoptions Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday noon-4 p.m.
  • Animal surrender  Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday noon-5 p.m. 
  • To surrender stray animals to us before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., enter through the back gate located on Mardi Gras Blvd. For directions click here.

OVERNIGHT Critter Cinema (Updated)

Details:

Great fun for animal-loving, pizza-eating, movie-watching kids!  What better way to celebrate love than with kitties and puppies, enjoying a G-rated critter movie, crafts, games and more.  Make friends with other young animal lovers and enjoy plenty puppy/kitty playtime.


For kids ages 5-10, please bring a sleeping bag, pillow, toothbrush and PJs.

Pet First Aid/CPR Course (Updated)

Details:

Find out what to do if your dog suddenly stops breathing or your cat cuts her paw on a piece of glass and more.  This hands-on training course will teach you the basics in animal handling, restraint, pet first aid and CPR using realistic animal mannequins.


Taught by a Red Cross certified instructor, you will learn what to do in common emergency situations.
