NEW ORLEANS (4/27/06) Your Support IS Helping This Important Legislation Become a Reality

The Louisiana SPCA has worked very closely with Senator Fontenot's office in drafting the pet evacuation legislation. We believe it is the best bill in the United States that addresses pet evacuation.

Your support is still crucial to pass the Pet Evacuation Bill (La. SB 607). Governor Blanco’s office has been flooded with letters, faxes and emails in support of the bill. Thanks for all that you’ve done.

Senator Fontenot, author of the bill, is asking all of us to contact the Commissioner of Administration, Jerry Luke LeBlanc. Commissioner LeBlanc’s support of the bill can greatly impact its passage. If Commissioner LeBlanc supports this bill, it has a greater chance of making it through the finance committee and ultimately Governor Blanco’s office. Please send faxes and letters of support to:

Jerry Luke LeBlanc
Commissioner of Administration

P.O. Box 94004
Baton Rouge, LA 70804

Fax number: 225-342-5653

Communicate the message to Commissioner LeBlanc that:

  • This bill will save the lives of people because we’re saving their pets

  • Passage of this bill will define Louisiana as a leader with this lifesaving, groundbreaking legislation

  • A lifesaving measure is a worthwhile expense

Many thanks for lending your voice and time!
