June's Rabbit Quiz

This is a short Quiz for your fun and to test your rabbit knowledge, courtesy of the House Rabbit Society. So, just how familiar with rabbits are you? Let's find out.

Ready?

Question: How many teeth does a rabbit have? a) 4 b) 12 c) 28 d)32

Answer: The correct answer is c) 28
Rabbits have four incisors, two on the top, and two on the bottom. Right behind the top incisor teeth are two small peg-like teeth called auxiliary incisors or "peg teeth". In addition, rabbits have cheek teeth that they use to grind their food. These are the 6 upper premolars, the 4 lower premolars, 6 upper molars and 6 lower molars.

Question: What do you call a group of rabbits?

Answer: A group of rabbits is called a "herd", just like a group of cattle. A herd of rabbits live in a warren.

True or False? Rabbits are herbivores.

Answer: True! Rabbits are herbivores, which means they eat only vegetables and plant-based foods

True or False? A baby rabbit is called a kit.

Answer: True. Baby Rabbit Is Called A Kit.

True or False? Rabbits are physically incapable of vomiting

Answer: True. Rabbits are physically incapable of vomiting. The physiology of the rabbit's digestive system is such that rabbits are not able to vomit. That's one of the primary reasons why ingesting fur can lead to so many serious problems, such as wool block, or sluggish motility when combined with a low-fiber diet.

Question: Rabbits should only be fed hay in very limited quantities.

Answer: False. Hay should be offered in large quantities on a constant basis and should be considered far more than just chewing entertainment. In addition to the invaluable fiber it contains, hay also provides vitamins, minerals, and protein in a form the rabbit's digestive tract not only can handle, but actually needs for its continued good health.
