Welcome to the Louisiana SPCA

As 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of animal suffering, we are the oldest and most comprehensive animal welfare organization in the state providing care for 20,000+ homeless and companion animals annually. For more than 125 years, we have been committed to serving the needs of the people and animals in our community and across the region as a 4-Star Charity Navigator rated nonprofit ranking in the top 1% nationally.

Hours of Operation:

  • Adoptions Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Sunday noon-4 p.m.
  • Animal surrender  Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday noon-5 p.m. 
  • To surrender stray animals to us before 9 a.m. and after 5 p.m., enter through the back gate located on Mardi Gras Blvd. For directions click here.

LA 1st Choice Auto Auction Charity Golf Tournament (Updated)

For the 5th year, Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction will partner with their customers and vendors to host their incredible charity golf tournament. It will be a sunny day surrounded by beautiful cypress and oaks at the newly renovated Lakewood Golf Course in New Orleans. Enjoy great food, beverages, goody bags, and over $2,500 in door prizes while benefiting the animals in our community.

Last day to register: September 25th!

Neighborhood Pet Adoption & (Updated)

Find a constant companion from the LA/SPCA off-site adoption team. Adoption counselors and volunteers will be on hand to help you select the right pet for your family. We have a variety of four-legged friends waiting for a forever home!

Can't attend, then drop by the shelter; adoption hours are 10:00am-4:00pm Monday-Saturday and noon-4:00pm Sunday.
