Heavenly Pet

You left this world quickly and painless.
It hurt my heart to put you to sleep,
But the vet said it was the best thing to do,
Since the cancer had already spread.
Your body was already dead.
But your heart was warm and still beating at the rhyme of mine.

Oh heavenly pet,
Oh God's creation to men's best friend.
You made my child hood a million times better,
And now is time to say goodbye.
I will always carry a picture of you in my mind,
So when it is my time to go I'll look for you in heaven.
